Colm Murphy’s classy mare, Voller La Vedette is the star attraction on the opening day of a two day fixture which marks the beginning of another season at the Kildare track. Having being hotly fancied for the David Nicholson Mares Hurdle at Cheltenham last March, she is bound to be a warm order favourite in this heat and should start her campaign on a winning note. The consistent Gudnis Gracious Me from the John O’Shea yard might give her most to do.

Before that, the sight of Ruby Walsh and Tony Martin combining in the opening 3-year-old Hurdle is noted. Sughera has run a few very decent races on the Flat without getting her head in front, but the Alhaarth filly could take all the beating in the 2.35.

Aside from that, the other happening of note on the card is the chasing debut of Noel Meade’s Muirhead. The 7-year-old ran away with a Grade 1 as a novice hurdler but has failed to score on 12 subsequent starts. By the trainer’s own admission however, this doesn’t look the strongest of contests and his charge should score.

Elsewhere ‘Mouse’ Morris’ First Lieutenant can claim the 3.05. he was an impressive Bumper winner at Gowran last March and would have won on his jumping debut at Navan but for a few sketchy efforts at his hurdles while Jessica Harrington’s Meitheamh could hold the solution in the Mares Bumper at 5.20.

For today though, my advice would be to ‘Try These Three’:
SUGHERA (2.35)
FIRST LIUETENANT (3.05)
MUIRHEAD (5.50)
