The Guvnor
Listowel 2010 – penultimate picks
Day 4 proved to be a very frustrating one for The Guvnor as Tijuana Dancer was a non runner and both Dazzle Dancer and Swing Pattern finishing second when fairly well backed. However, although it wasn’t included in our trio of selections at the end of the column, the call was got right in the opening race as Duc De Savoie (11/8f) scored for Dermot Weld and outstanding Apprentice Leigh Roche.
Indus Valley looks to be the one to beat in the opener while the much travelled Bricks And Porter could take the second race on the card. Separate Ways would be my top selection out of all the Flat races on the card (3.25) while Willie Mullins’ Hows The Chap is noted in the contest following that.
Mullins may, not surprisingly, also be the man to follow throughout the day’s NH action. My sources in Closutton have always held Ballyhaunis in high regard and the gelding by Daylami should claim the 5.40. Before that, Deutschland – a first fence faller in the Kerry National on Wednesday – will be expected to run a big race while Three Monkeys will bid to join the plethora of horses that have shown improvement since transferred to the Champion Trainer’s care having shown progressed from each of his two runs therein to date.
But, in terms of tips, the inclination would be to ‘Try These Three’:
SEPARATE WAYS (3.25)
BALLYHAUNIS (5.40)
THREE MONKEYS (6.10)
